Physician-supervised hair restoration
Restore thinning follicles naturally with our physician-supervised PRP hair treatment at our Markham and North York clinics. Published pricing from $499.
What PRP is
PRP is an autologous preparation. We collect a small blood sample, process it in a centrifuge and administer the prepared platelet-rich fraction to selected scalp areas.
Researchers have studied whether PRP may support the environment around viable follicles and improve hair density in certain forms of hair loss. It does not create new follicles or restore a completely bald area.
Clear pricing before treatment
We publish our transparent pricing so you understand the investment for your clinical PRP hair treatment before booking. Your personalized plan and definitive quotation are confirmed following your free scalp evaluation.
Approximately $166–$200 per session
Approximately $150–$167 per session
Prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD). Any applicable Ontario taxes and clinical recommendations for your tailored PRP hair treatment course are outlined clearly during consultation.
Clinical responsibility
PRP at DrHairs is provided within a physician-supervised standard of care. Before treatment, our clinical team reviews your hair-loss concerns, scalp condition, relevant health information and suitability.
We do not present PRP as a universal solution. If your presentation requires further medical investigation or another pathway appears more appropriate, we explain that before asking you to purchase a package.

Evidence, not promises
A 2025 meta-analysis found moderate evidence that PRP may improve hair density and reduce hair loss in selected patients.
The same review did not find a significant overall improvement in hair thickness.
Preparation, activation, composition, treatment schedules and outcome measurements vary between studies and clinics.
Your appointment
We review your thinning pattern, scalp, health information and goals.
A small sample is drawn, similar to a routine blood test.
The sample is processed to prepare the platelet-rich fraction.
PRP is administered to the selected treatment areas.
We explain washing, activity and scalp-care instructions.
We assess response over time rather than after one session.
Responsible candidacy
PRP may be considered when viable follicles remain and the pattern of thinning is suitable for a non-surgical approach.
We may recommend further assessment, postpone PRP or advise against it when:
Do not discontinue prescribed medication unless the prescribing healthcare professional specifically advises you to do so.
Realistic outcomes
PRP is assessed over months, not days. If you respond, changes in shedding or visible density may become easier to evaluate between three and six months.
We use consistent progress documentation where appropriate. If continued treatment is unlikely to provide reasonable value, the plan should be reconsidered.
Patient safety
Because PRP comes from your own blood, it may have a lower allergy risk than some external substances. However, autologous does not mean risk-free.
Pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, itching, headache, pinpoint bleeding or light-headedness.
Infection, worsening irritation, no meaningful response and the possible need for maintenance treatment.
Create new follicles, replace permanently destroyed follicles or guarantee increased density or thickness.
After your appointment
Your individual instructions take priority over general online advice. Depending on your treatment protocol, you may need to temporarily avoid:
Different treatments, different purposes
These options are not interchangeable. The appropriate pathway depends on your diagnosis, stage of loss, health information and goals.
Uses a preparation from your own blood. Usually involves multiple appointments and a variable response.
May be considered for selected patterns. Requires appropriate advice, consistent use and review of possible side effects.
Relocates suitable donor follicles into selected areas of established loss and requires adequate donor hair.
Individual situations
PRP may be considered for selected women, but hormonal changes, nutrition, medication, illness and other health factors may contribute. Where these are suspected, further evaluation may be more appropriate first.
Postpartum shedding does not automatically mean PRP is necessary. It may improve as the hair-growth cycle recovers. Persistent or concerning shedding should be assessed, particularly when breastfeeding or other health factors are relevant.
PRP may be discussed as an adjunct in selected cases. It does not replace surgical planning, graft handling, donor management or aftercare. Timing should be coordinated with the team managing your recovery.
A better consultation
A responsible clinic should explain why treatment is recommended, not simply sell the largest package.

Common questions
Clear answers about PRP hair treatment costs, clinical sessions, candidate suitability, and realistic outcomes.
A three-session PRP hair treatment package ranges from $499 to $599. An extended six-session PRP hair treatment course ranges from $899 to $999. Your initial diagnostic assessment is free, and your full quote is confirmed before starting.
No. These are multi-session package rates. The $499–$599 price covers three complete PRP hair treatment visits, while $899–$999 covers a full course of six sessions.
Most patients begin with an initial series of 3 PRP hair treatment sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. The exact schedule depends on your thinning pattern, scalp dermoscopy, and individual response.
No. A PRP hair treatment cannot revive dead or scarred follicle roots. It is clinically indicated for miniaturizing follicles where active, viable roots remain intact.
Clinical studies show moderate evidence that PRP hair treatment improves overall hair count and density while reducing active shedding, though individual changes in shaft thickness can vary.
Recovery is minimal. After your PRP hair treatment, you may experience mild scalp tenderness or slight redness for 24–48 hours, but you can resume normal daily routines immediately.
Yes. Women experiencing diffuse female pattern hair loss or hormonal thinning can be ideal candidates for PRP hair treatment following a preliminary health review.
Not always immediately. Postpartum shedding often resolves naturally. If excessive shedding persists after 6 to 12 months, a targeted PRP hair treatment may be considered.
Injections involve a mild pinching sensation. At DrHairs, local numbing techniques and cooling methods ensure each PRP hair treatment is comfortable and well-tolerated.
No non-surgical protocol can stop genetic loss permanently. While PRP hair treatment stimulates cellular repair, maintenance visits every 6 to 12 months are recommended to sustain results.
Yes. Many patients combine a hair transplant with supportive PRP hair treatment sessions to accelerate healing and enhance the survival yield of newly placed grafts.
PRP hair treatment is contraindicated for individuals with active scalp infections, severe platelet or blood disorders, active cancer, or those taking certain blood-thinning medications.
Because it is categorized as a cosmetic procedure, PRP hair treatment is not covered under Ontario OHIP. Private health spending accounts may vary.
Yes. Comprehensive PRP hair treatment consultations and physician-led procedures are offered at both our Markham and North York clinic locations.
Canadian regulatory context
Health Canada has explained that PRP prepared from a patient and administered back to the same patient in a single procedure falls within provincially or territorially regulated clinical practice when the applicable conditions are met.
Its communication also noted that Health Canada had not reviewed the safety, efficacy and quality of PRP for therapeutic uses at the time of publication. PRP should therefore not be marketed as guaranteed or universally effective.
