Markham & North York, Ontario

Our Clinical Team

Hair loss is rarely caused by one thing, so it is rarely assessed well by one person. Our clinics bring medical, naturopathic and clinical support roles together so that the cause is established before any treatment is recommended.

Surgical procedures are performed by a physician. Non-surgical treatments are delivered by trained clinical staff under medical supervision. Every patient begins with a free hair and scalp assessment at either location.

Medical leadership

The physician responsible for surgical care

Dr. Paul, physician at DrHairs Markham and North York

Dr. Paul

Physician · Surgical hair restoration

Role: Assessment, surgical planning and hair transplant procedures
Regulator: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
Clinics: DrHairs Markham and DrHairs North York
Procedures: FUE and FUT hair transplant, beard and eyebrow transplant

In Ontario, only a physician may administer the local anaesthetic used during a hair transplant. Dr. Paul carries out the surgical assessment, plans the hairline and graft distribution, and performs the procedure itself.

Where surgery is not the right answer — because the donor area is not stable, the cause of the loss has not been established, or the available donor supply cannot deliver what the patient is asking for — that is said at the assessment rather than after payment.

How we work

Why more than one discipline is involved

Hair loss can be driven by genetics, hormones, nutrition, medication, illness, stress, scalp condition or a combination of them. A clinic that only performs surgery will tend to recommend surgery. We would rather establish the cause first.

That is why assessment comes before any treatment recommendation, and why more than one type of clinician may be involved in a single case. Sometimes the honest answer is that the right next step is a blood test, a referral, or simply monitoring for a few months.

What this means for you in practice

  • Your assessment establishes the likely cause before treatment is discussed
  • You may be seen by more than one clinician if your case calls for it
  • You will be told when a treatment is unlikely to be worth the cost
  • You may be advised to seek further medical assessment before any cosmetic treatment
  • Surgical and non-surgical options are both on the table, not just the one we perform

If you want to understand the causes and types of hair loss before you come in, our page on hair loss covers them. To compare the treatment options side by side, see our hair restoration guide.

The disciplines

Who you may see at DrHairs

Which of these are involved depends entirely on what your assessment finds. Not every patient sees every role.

Physicians

Clinical evaluation of hair loss, medical treatment planning, and the performance and supervision of surgical hair restoration procedures.

Naturopathic Doctors

Assessment of nutritional, hormonal, metabolic and lifestyle factors that can contribute to hair loss, alongside medical treatment where appropriate.

Nurse Practitioners

Patient assessment, treatment planning, monitoring of progress, and coordination of care between the other members of the team.

Registered Nurses

Patient preparation, assistance during procedures, patient education and post-treatment care.

Medical Aestheticians

Scalp care and non-invasive treatments supporting scalp health, delivered under medical supervision.

Psychological Support

Hair loss affects confidence and self-image. Where it is affecting wellbeing, support can be discussed as part of the wider plan.

Each clinician works within their own regulated scope of practice. Only a physician performs surgical hair transplantation and administers local anaesthetic. Naturopathic care does not replace medical assessment, and neither replaces care from your family doctor.

Advanced Technologies

DrHairs incorporates modern technologies designed to stimulate hair follicles and improve scalp health.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy

Laser hair stimulation

TED hair regeneration technology

Advanced hair transplant techniques

Scalp micropig mentation

Education & Professional

Education and Professional Collaboration

Hair restoration is constantly evolving. DrHairs values education and collaboration with professionals in the beauty and medical industries.

hair professionals and salons

Hair professionals and salons often identify early signs of hair thinning and guide clients toward proper care and treatment options.

medical specialists

Medical specialists help evaluate underlying health conditions related to hair loss and provide professional guidance for appropriate treatments.

Scalp Care Experts

Scalp care experts focus on scalp health, diagnosing common scalp issues and recommending solutions that support healthy hair growth.

Patient-Centered Care

Every patient is unique, and so is their hair restoration journey. At DrHairs, we focus on:

careful consultation

realistic treatment planning

patient education

long-term follow-up care

Working together

One assessment, one plan

Rather than each clinician working separately, the team reviews a case together where it needs it. A patient whose thinning turns out to be driven by a thyroid issue, iron deficiency or a medication side effect needs that addressed — not a transplant booked around it.

The result is a single plan that may combine surgical and non-surgical elements, or may recommend no cosmetic treatment at all for the time being.

What we commit to

Four things, every time

  • The cause first. We establish what is happening before we discuss what to do about it.
  • An honest answer on suitability. Including when the answer is that a treatment will not help you enough to justify the cost.
  • Costs in writing. In Canadian dollars, before you commit to anything.
  • Realistic timelines. Hair restoration takes months. We will not tell you otherwise.
